Lieutenant, 22nd Infantry, Union Army. Married Margaret Dent, niece of President Grant. Moved to Denver, Colo. in 1887. Active in Creede mining district (Colo.) Supervised the construction of Fort Logan (Colo.) Retired from active service (1902) and was given the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by special act of Congress.
